Audiovox Electronics Corporation recently announced that its Audiovox solutions, powered by DICE, is now compatible with the latest iPhone (News - Alert) 5 and iOS6. Testing and validation of the compatibility of the MediaBridge and Universal 200 OE Integration solutions, part of the Audiovox portfolio, was successfully completed by the DICE Electronics Engineering Team shortly after receiving the iPhone 5.

For the first time in the industry, compatibility with the iPhone 5 has been unveiled in the OE Integration category. The latest compatibility highlights the advantages of including a product design based on USB digital architecture.

The usage of an Apple (News - Alert) Lightning to 30PIN adapter is also eliminated with the MediaBridge and Universal 200 solutions.

A very small number of USB connectors available on an assortment of competitive OE Integration products are capable of supporting USB digital architecture. The USB digital architecture is a critical component of communicating with an iPhone 5 via the latest Lightning to USB cable.

Digital audio and control protocol are only transmitted by the iPhone 5 Lightning connector cable.

Plug and play incorporation for chosen factory radios, which leverage the latest iOS 6 features, is offered by the MediaBridge kits. Drivers can now completely control their music playback features like requesting for a song, artist, playlist or the genre via voice by facilitating Siri Voice Control in the car.

MediaBridge also allows drivers to say aloud and send text messages and e-mails – hands-free texting. Siri can read the contents of a received text message as well.

Drivers are offered additional number of voice activated capabilities using iOS6, improving the security and handiness with hands free control of several features. Music apps like Pandora, Livio and Spotify (News - Alert), turn-by-turn direction-finding, and discovery and routing to POIs, can also be initiated by drivers.

Certain models of Acura, Audi, BMW, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Mini, Nissan, Scion, Toyota and VW vehicles are compatible with the MediaBridge 1500 solution, currently priced at $299.99.

VOXX International Corp. is the parent company of AEC. VOXX is a major supplier of mobile and consumer electronics products across the globe.
