Speedemissions Unveils App CARbongaBT

Atlanta-based Speedemissions owns and develops the CARbonga line of apps for smartphone users. CARbonga is an app which allows the average person to detect automotive car problems for their own vehicle or when buying a used vehicle.

Speedemissions recently announced the newest version of CARbonga – CARbongaBT. The app is currently available in the Apple (News - Alert) app store.

CARbonga for the iPhone automatically tests the functionality of a car's operating system to make sure everything is working perfectly. In less than 60 seconds, users can see if their anti-lock brakes are working, air bag is properly set and transmission is set for extended trips.

Users can also see why certain warning or engine management lights are on.

The new version of the CARbongaBT app comes with its new Bluetooth device, and is noted to give drivers an inside look at their vehicle's emissions and safety codes. In addition to operating the app, this Bluetooth device has driver evaluation, vehicle maintenance and fuel economy provisions.

Both the CARbongaBT app and the Bluetooth device can be used on multiple vehicles, making it a very low cost way to diagnose one’s car's emission problems.

"This is a project on which we've been working for quite some time. And one that took a lot of energy, patience and resources. So obviously we're very excited to be able to have this Bluetooth device available to operate our CARbongaBT app and to sell on the open market. Plus, the Bluetooth device offers a significant benefit for parents, who care about keeping their family, especially teenage children and the car they're driving safe. It's a really great 'peace-of-mind' tool when using the CARbongaBT app," Rich Parlontieri, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

The Bluetooth device is noted to be a plug-and-play adapter that taps into the vast amounts of information available in today's vehicles. Two unique features that make this device different, according to the company, are that it captures and stores driving and trip information for over a year using its patent-pending technology, and its size. It is incredibly compact with a width of 1.8 inches, height of 1.38 inches and depth of just 1 inch, making it an easy installation in the On-board-diagnostic port of any 1996 or newer car or truck.

It also allows car owners to see data stored on their personal computer.

Speedemissions is planning the delivery of the product as early in 2013 for a retail price of $69.99. Interested customers can also pick the product from CARbonga.com.

The company statement indicated that the new CARbongaBT app can be purchased for $4.99.

In related news, Speedemissions announced that it is now ready to sell its franchise store model under the brand name, SpeedEmissions Car Care.
