The free personal safety app bSafe from Bipper was launched in the market a few weeks ago. Since its launch, the app has become one of the most downloaded apps for the iPhone (News - Alert) in Norway. In the past week, the top spot for iPhone apps was being vied by bSafe, Angry Birds and Facebook (News - Alert) apps.
Word-of-mouth marketing in Norway is being extensively relied upon by bSafe. Apart from gaining significant traction on Android phones, the bSafe app is expected to be launched on BlackBerry (News - Alert) devices. Bipper is also planning to launch bSafe in the U.S. and the rest of the world.
In a release, Silje Vallestad, founder and chief executive officer of Bipper said, “I am extremely pleased to see so many people downloading bSafe and giving themselves much-needed peace-of-mind. I expect a very positive reception in the U.S. as well, where the need may be even greater for a free, easy-to-use personal safety tool.”
Users are able to select personal Guardians with the free app, bSafe. When users need help, the Guardians will be notified by the app. An emergency SOS (News - Alert) message will be used to alert the user’s guardians. The emergency message will include the sender's location. One specified contact will also receive a direct call from the app.
One touch activation of the alarm with GPS is also featured by bSafe. A fake call can be also initiated by the user if threatened. The app also features Risk Mode and Timer Mode. While the user’s position is tracked in real time in the Risk Mode, alarms are automatically activated in Timer Mode.
Bipper is the company’s first award-winning product which has received international recognition. Parents are able to monitor and control mobile usage of their kids with Bipper. Top European mobile operators had collaborated with Bipper for the launch of the Bipper product.
