Welcome to the Week in Review, where we take a look at all the top stories making headlines in IP PBX this week.

The week started off with the news that IP PBX (News - Alert) titan Ooma has decided to ramp up its offerings with home security features. Thanks to the new security monitoring, those who own an Ooma Telo system will be able to augment that system with a variety of extra sensors, ranging from internal motion to door and window to even flood sensors. This is a strategic move by Ooma to improve its IP PBX offering. You can find out more HERE.

Meanwhile, Ecosmob Technologies is also jumping on the bandwagon by adding new features to its IP PBX as well. The company recently announced that it is going to build new IP PBX solutions using its FREESWITCH system as the basis. Call routing and call forwarding, including call forwarding while busy and call forwarding with no answer, call snooping, parking, waiting, and queuing are all new features that will be offered due to this development. Find out all you need to know HERE.

Later in the week, that Vida Network Technologies and VTech Communications announced a new certification involving the interoperability of Vida’s vCloud platform with VTech’s desktop and cordless SIP phones. This means that all of Vida’s hosted IP PBX and VoIP solutions are now certified compativle with VTech’s offerings. The vCloud platform has a lot to offer users, including VidaTeam service, vOffice Pro and vCallCenter, which makes this certification a great thing for VTech customers who are interested. You can find all the details HERE.

Finally, the week rounded out with the news that Apivio Systems will be bringing its Liberty L2 Wi-Fi phone to classrooms. Frank Griffin said in his report, “The Liberty L2 Wi-Fi phone looks like a cordless phone, but in reality it is a purpose-built solution to enhance business continuity. It extends the reach of the desktop phone with IP PBX-like features so teams can collaborate and improve their productivity levels as well as customer service by being accessible at all times.” This kind of portability could work wonders for teachers in a school setting that have a hard time making calls when need be. You can continue reading HERE.

While a variety of topics have been highlighted here, that’s certainly not all that went on this week. Be sure to head to the IP PBX homepage for all the updates, and come back next week for the latest insights. Have a great weekend!
