Mobile and fixed line communications is almost becoming one in the same as organizations deploy VoIP and IP PBX (News - Alert) solutions that bring both worlds together seamlessly. As more employees work outside of the office just as much as they do on premises, the integration is critically important. One Horizon Group (OHG) just announced it is updating the security of its optimized mobile platform for enterprises and government agencies to secure voice calls, private instant messaging and encrypted file transfers, which are key in comprehensive IP PBX solutions service providers offer.

An IP PBX uses converged data and voice networks, making it possible for Internet access, VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol or IP) and traditional telephone communications to be carried out using a single line for each user. And with the introduction of smartphones, calls and data are being transferred to users, just like with a traditional PBX, no matter where they are.

As a developer and operator of carrier grade optimized VoIP solutions for enterprises and mobile telecoms, OHG has one of the most bandwidth-efficient technologies for mobile VoIP, messaging, and advertising platforms for smartphones. Using this technology, it is currently servicing more than 43 million subscribers across 20 licensed brands around the world.

The security and functionality updates OHG has announced were made to address the security demand of enterprises and government agencies so they can have mobile communications they can rely on once they are outside of their premises. According to the company, its One Horizon in-app Secure-Mode service is going to allow these organizations to communicate securely anywhere around the world by enforcing end-to-end security of their communications using a key-cloud, or by deploying a standalone encryption key broker service inside their own network.

Brian Collins, CEO of One Horizon Group, said, “People are making more and more work-related calls on mobile phones and sending text messages on non-secure consumer apps at an increasing rate, making our enterprises more and more vulnerable to infiltration. Our latest Secure-Mode now gives governments and enterprises the comfort of knowing that their business communications are safer and more secure than ever before.”

One Horizon offers white label technology so it can be deployed on the Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure cloud. This allows it to be easily adopted across enterprise or on premises with Secure Mode, which provides military-grade end-to-end encryption. Voice calls, messages, and file transfers are fully encrypted and are routed through the mobile device's data connection using secure mode. And once a secure session has been completed, traces of the communication are destroyed on the handset. This ensures the data is not on the device if it happens to get lost or is stolen.
