Brekeke PBX, Yealink IP Video Phone Now Have Video Stream Support
By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer

Sometimes one of the biggest problems when it comes to setting up a PBX (News - Alert) system is making sure that the hardware and the software can successfully live together. No one wants a “Felix and Oscar” thing going on with the systems that will help fuel a business' communications capabilities, so making sure that the systems are interoperable is a very important step that even drives some buying choices in the field based on just what works with what else. Those decisions may have gotten just a little easier with Brekeke (News - Alert) and Yealink, as Brekeke announced that its PBX system now has confirmed video stream support with the Yealink VP530 IP Video Phone.

With this new development, those who bring in the Brekeke PBX system can add video calling onto the list of capabilities that the system can achieve when using the VP530 as the hardware base. That adds on to an already impressive array of features for the Brekeke PBX, including the establishment of a secured connection by using Secure Real-Time Protocol (SRTP) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) support.

The CEO of Brekeke Software, Shin Yamade, elaborated on some of the benefits of having both the Brekeke PBX and the Yealink VP350 in play at the same time, noting that a one-to-one video call—even to host a video conference—or to launch complete video broadcasting sessions could now be accomplished via a means as simple as just a quick setup procedure. Additionally, Yamade noted that there were a set of additional features in play that would “address users' SIP security concerns.”

Yealink (News - Alert) wasn't silent on the matter, as expressed by the company's vice president Stone Lu, who noted “Our Video Phone VP530 boasts a complete feature set suitable for high-level enterprise use with all conversation participants viewable on the phone's screen.  We are very glad that our Video Phone (News - Alert) now operates seamlessly with Brekeke PBX. It is a natural process for us as we subtly integrate the performance, quality and cost advantage of IP Video Phone technology. The successful interoperability tests between Yealink and Brekeke are significant and vital to the progression of Yealink and will definitely provide our customers with more benefits.”

Video conferencing has gained a lot of ground in recent months, as companies discover the value of making that face-to-face connection over a video screen rather than in person, which can bring in a lot of extra expense and lost productivity as the necessary practice of business travel is engaged in. A video conferencing system can certainly help connect businesses to clients—even when those clients are other businesses entirely—but video conferencing can also be used to interconnect workers in individual offices, whether onsite or offsite. This enhances the mobile workforce concept, and allows everyone within range of a Web connection to stay connected regardless of the workers' physical location.

The combination of the Yealink VP530 and the Brekeke PBX looks to help make that—among plenty of other key functions—happen on a grand scale for every user. It may not be just what every specific business needs, but it's certainly going to be a great place to start the search for a PBX and hardware combination that will deliver the kind of results that businesses need.
