Digium, a manufacturer of IP telephony hardware, recently announced that Global Convergence (News - Alert) has become a Master Agent in the Digium Cloud Agent Program.

Global Convergence is a business telephony and tech product distributor that has a substantial history with Digium. Therefore, it follows suit that it would make a great fit for an organization that will now handle Digium's Switchvox (News - Alert) unified communication (UC) and its SIP Trunking platforms. Master agents typically have direct contracts with manufacturers – in this case Digium – and may handle everything from product ordering to direct sales and customer support. This situation will allow Global Convergence to expand its own reach as a handler of telephony hardware and award-winning supporting software.

Gayle Magee, the director of worldwide distribution and cloud sales for Digium (News - Alert), further noted the types of products and service for which Global Convergence will manage.

“As a valued, existing distributor, it's exciting to welcome Global Convergence into our Cloud Master Agent program, allowing them to expand their portfolio of solutions with our Switchvox hosted PBX (News - Alert) and Digium SIP Trunking services,” Magee said. “Switchvox Cloud was developed with Digium's premises-based Switchvox PBX. Resellers already selling and supporting on-premises Switchvox products are able to leverage their expertise to rapidly deploy these cloud-based solutions to their SMB customers with little to no learning curve.”

What this means for small and midsize businesses is that they will have a ready agent with all the tools necessary to get them up and running. Installation of phones and UC services often come from distinct distributors, and that can be a headache for any organization that wants those services to interact throughout their scheduled lifecycles. With IP phones and UC software coming directly from Global Convergence, there will be no gap between those two offerings.
