Talkaphone's IP Phones Open Doors?

When it comes to technology, there are few things better than systems that do more than one thing. A system that can handle a variety of functions precludes the need for buying and installing several systems to cover the same waterfront, which reduces costs and simplifies installation. Perhaps with that in mind, Talkaphone brought out its new VoIP-200 series Internet protocol (IP) phone recently, which allows for not only many standard IP phone functions, but also access control as well.

The system is actually a combined effort, bringing together not only Talkaphone's IP phone system, but also a Grandstream GVX3275, also known as the AVM-1, to provide a video attendant station that lets users see who's at the other end and manage that access accordingly.  Since the VoIP-200 series allows for top-notch voice clarity, and the AVM-1 high-end video, the end result is a much better ability to tell who's at the door and whether or not that person should be let in.

Better yet, the VoIP-200 system can actually automate the door opening. Since it's got an auxiliary output, which can be connected to a door opening mechanism, the end result is a system that can not only connect to visitors, but also allow the door to be opened to said visitors remotely. It's an IP phone system that will literally open doors for visitors. Since it's built with marine-grade stainless steel, it's able to withstand the elements as well as serve as an effective deterrent for potential vandals.

As noted previously, it also handles common IP phone functions like call forwarding, call parking and pickup, hot desking, server redundancy functions and more, though these will require a private branch exchange (PBX (News - Alert)) system that works on a session initiation protocol (SIP) basis.

The good news about this system is that users no longer need to choose an IP phone system and an entry management system separately, because Talkaphone's system will handle both points at the same time. That makes things easier to put in place, and means less time needs to be spent on care and feeding of systems. With one system handling two functions, that means also that less time needs to be put into finding new systems to begin with, and all of this together adds up to improved functionality—which can have a positive bottom line impact if exploited properly—and cost savings.

The VoIP-200 from Talkaphone may not mean better profits for every business, but it certainly does improve the chances . Handling several functions at once makes this highly efficient, and well worth considering for anyone who needs both outbound calling and entry management in an IP phone system.
