Vodia's WebRTC-Based IP Phone Works with Salesforce

When it comes to Internet protocol (IP) phones these days, there's a lot to choose from. With so many potential options, figuring out which one to go with can be a real challenge. Vodia Networks offered a line of Web-based real time communications (WebRTC)-driven softphones, but even with WebRTC at its core, that still might not have been enough. The recent addition of Salesforce functionality, though, may really help Vodia over the top.


With Salesforce now a part of the Vodia IP phone line, users will be able to access the full power of Salesforce options right from the Vodia devices. Users can make calls directly from a computer without using a handset, or even switching tabs, meaning that users can make more connections via Salesforce and better improve the likelihood of making sales.

The new system also allows for the use of softphones that add options; calls can be made from the computer's user interface and answered on the phones, or the other way around, as needed. The system also benefits from TLS 1.2, which offers greater security and performance thanks to a new slate of cryptographic algorithms. Since the system is built around WebRTC, it also works more soundly on a variety of Web browsers, as most of these support WebRTC in at least some fashion.

Best of all, since the softphone is browser-based—as is the common implication with WebRTC support—it can be used without software installation. There's even the option for service providers to offer the platform with their own branding; customization with a company logo becomes a comparatively easy task, allowing the provider to offer value-added services and improve the chances of getting new users.

When a new offering comes out that offers value to the entire spectrum of parties involved in an operation, it's worth taking notice. The end user gets a chance to better win the numbers game that is sales, and also gets a better chance to achieve positive outcomes on every call thanks to greater information about the callers going in. Meanwhile, the service provider gets to offer up a new valuable tool for its own users, which improves the likelihood that old customers will stay customers.

Value throughout makes Vodia's new improvement in IP phones valuable for all concerned. There's something here for most everyone to welcome, and that should make this a platform more companies consider bringing on.
