VoIP is venturing to reinvent communications. With the work taking place in the cloud, and developers feverishly piecing together the next generation of communications solutions it is certainly an exciting time to follow the space.
This week, AudioCodes (News - Alert) and RedSky announced a newly minted partnership, which is aimed at delivering RedSky E911 calling in hosted IP environments. AudioCodes is enabling this functionality via the integration of the RedSky Horizon Mobility system with the AudioCodes 400 HD series IP phones and SBCs, with the initial release geared toward BroadSoft (News - Alert) BroadWorks environments.
"RedSky is excited to work with AudioCodes which has done so much good work to transition enterprises to IP telephony," said Tony Maier, CEO of RedSky (News - Alert). "Together, we are delivering the future of E911 mobility tracking to BroadWorks enterprise customers."
REdSky’s Horizon Mobility leverages the NENA i3 Next Generation 9-1-1 architecture to allow for a phone to continuously request location information to ensure when an emergency call is placed the phone can send its location data to the 9-1-1 dispatch center. The integration between the SIP-based technology and the RedSky E911 Anywhere Cloud supports calls to and from any 9-1-1 contact center in Canada and the United States.
And, with the newly announced collaboration between AudioCodes and RedSky’s Horizon Mobility, callers and emergency operators enjoy a seamless, unified communications experience.
"AudioCodes' support for i3 NG9-1-1 services will assist service providers with a more consistent approach in addressing emergency calling identification from a wider range of terminal equipment," said Mark Baker, BroadSoft Director of Business Development. "RedSky's Horizon Mobility™ service's cloud-based approach simplifies emergency call delivery for service providers leveraging the BroadSoft Business platform."
Communications are vital for a vigorous business, but become life or death in an emergency situation. Digital transformation is delivering on the promise of what the next generation of communications solutions can offer, and via AudioCodes and RedSky is saving lives.
