Univision and the Vidal Partnership Present "El Juego Supremo", the Soccer Reality Series

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Univision and The Vidal Partnership have jointly announced the launch of a soccer entertainment property, “El Juego Supremo” (The Ultimate Match), a reality soccer competition series. This is the first original branded soccer entertainment property of Univision Network, with Nissan North America and Sprint (News - Alert) being its exclusive network sponsors.

“El Juego Supremo” will be aired on the Univision Network in the fall, and five soccer legends from Mexico and five from the Americas, will be assembled together in it. Together, these legends will train a team of rookies, with two legends from each team serving as the primary coaches. 10 talented amateur soccer players out of each coaching team will be given an opportunity of a lifetime.

David Lawenda, president of advertising, sales and marketing at Univision Communications, said that the company is thrilled to provide its viewers with an exciting new soccer reality competition in collaboration with the Vidal Partnership, Nissan North America and Sprint.

“El Juego Supremo” is going to be the first partnership between Univision, a national Spanish-language network, and the Vidal Partnership, the largest independent Hispanic agency in the country. With that in mind, the agency and network have generated a concept that would display the strength of both the network sponsors, Nissan North America and Sprint.

Oswald Mendez, managing partner and director of integrated communications for the Vidal Partnership, commented that it is an exciting experience for the company to join forces with Univision Network to bring this new and innovative entertainment property developed exclusively for its clients, Nissan North America and Sprint, apart from creating an entirely new format for this genre.

Products by both the sponsors, Nissan North America and Sprint will be integrated in select scenes throughout “El Juego Supremo.” Nissan North America will feature the Nissan Titan, a vehicle with a reputation as the truck of choice for work and adventure, apart from the new, sophisticated small crossover SUV launched by the company last year, Nissan Rogue. Motorola (News - Alert) I335 Nextel walkie-talkie phone and Samsung Instinct by Sprint will also be showcased.

“El Juego Supremo” will be a joint production between Animus Entertainment Group, Zeal Television and the Vidal Partnership, focusing the teams training in Mexico City and Miami. The relationships unfolding between the legends and the rookies will be the center of attraction of the show for the viewers. At the end of each of the five, one-hour episodes a match will mark elimination for teams. The final match between Mexico and the Americas will be broadcast live from a premier soccer stadium in the U.S.

Ben Poore, vice president of marketing communications for Nissan North America, said that ‘El Juego Supremo’ is exactly the type of branded entertainment property that Nissan wants to be a part of, as Nissan has a large number of Hispanic vehicle owners, and this unique property will allow the company to engage with the Hispanic community.
