With an aim of implementing its next-generation video user interface (UI), Cox Communications has chosen NDS (

Alert), the provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV. The interactive UI designed by Cox for existing and new set-top boxes (STBs) is deployed or to be deployed in its cable networks throughout the United States. Designed to be forward compatible with Tru2way technology enabled devices, the new UI is compatible with many of the existing STBs.

News -
Alert) to offer world-class services to its customers, on a platform capable of supporting tomorrow’s new technologies.
The partnership between Cox and NDS will enable personalization by viewers to match their viewing preferences and improve the user experience significantly. The companies will also add Network-based community sharing, which enables friends and family members to recommend programs to one another.
NDS provides a portfolio of market-leading solutions for digital television which includes VideoGuard, its proven conditional access solution for Pay TV, that is currently protecting more than 86.9 million active devices worldwide. The NDS VideoGuard solutions portfolio provides many products such as VideoGuard PMP for portable media players and RadioGuard, for the HD Radio platform, VideoGuard Mobile for broadcasting to mobile devices, and VideoGuard PC to secure content in personal computers.
NDS also offers a suite of enabling software solutions that includes MediaHighway middleware

, interactive TV applications and digital video recorder (DVR) technology. The NDS DVR technology is powering over 12.1 million DVRs in viewers’ homes around the world and NDS middleware has been deployed in 83.1 million devices.
