Alert), Inc., the provider of high-performance network infrastructure, has announced that Cox Communications, a provider of digital cable television and telecommunications services, has chosen Juniper MX-series Ethernet

Services Routers as part of a multi-year project to expand the capacity and scale of its metro regional networks.
Cox (

Cox Enterprises, providing digital
cable television and telecommunications services in the United States. It is the third-largest cable television provider in the country, serving more than 5.9 million customers, including 2.9 million digital cable subscribers, 3.5 million Internet subscribers, and 2.2 million digital telephone subscribers.
Selecting MX960 is a part of Cox’s plan to support the increasing demand for its bundled residential services and accelerate its continued expansion into the commercial services market by transitioning toward a converged network architecture hub design combining voice, video, and data traffic. The MX960 Ethernet Services Router is the largest capacity Carrier Ethernet platform currently available in the market, delivering up to 960 Gigabit per second (Gbps) of switching and routing

capacity.
"Juniper Networks routers have been deployed in our metro and national backbone network for years, and have helped Cox consistently deliver superior performance, reliability and security for residential and business customers," said Matt Hayes, director of network engineering, Cox Communications.
"As we migrate towards standardized network architecture in our metro networks, the Juniper Networks MX960, which utilizes the same powerful JUNOS software and delivers industry-leading performance, quickly became our preferred choice."
By delivering an optimum combination of scale, density, and support for advanced applications, such as point-to-multi-point video distribution, the MX960 will enable Cox to consolidate multiple services on a single, converged IP/MPLS

network. This converged network will deliver an efficient, cost-optimized platform that will improve service quality and velocity for Cox's growing number of business and residential consumers.
Juniper Networks, Inc. is a California-based information technology company that designs and sells Internet Protocol

network products and services. Juniper also partners with Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson, and Alcatel-Lucent (

"Leading MSOs such as Cox Communications are seeking to drive network monetization by delivering innovative new services to consumers, while also optimizing costs," Hayes says. "With Juniper Networks MX-series in its regional networks, Cox will have a high-performance converged metro Ethernet infrastructure that can accelerate service innovation and support its growing customer and service base."
