By Arun Satapathy, TMCnet Contributing Editor

DS2 (News - Alert), a technology innovator and global supplier of high-speed powerline communications technology, will participate in Computex 2008, according to the company.

The company will debut in in Computex 2008 with a tailor-made, public display entitled Connectivity in the Nangang Hall. Some of the key features of the demo of DS2 Powerline Communications ICs for self-install and whole home networking in IPTV services to build or extend a home network for all the family.

"Leadership is commitment. Our move to the expanded Computex exhibition space in the new Nangang complex is a measure of DS2's commitment to serve the ever-growing demand for powerline communications technology in Asia, and in particular the ever-increasing number of Taiwanese powerline communication equipment suppliers on the global market," said Victor Dominguez, co-founder and vice president of sales at DS2.

Interoperability between different generations of powerline technology is a key feature of the demo.

DS2's DE21P Embedded Powerline Reference Design which is designed for use with Aitana - its 200Mbps chipset solution for high speed multimedia home networking, consumer electronics and service provider IPTV (News - Alert) applications. DS2 will also present methods of embedding DE21P module with different products including set top boxes, home gateways, remote speaker systems, IP cameras, or personal computers, can deliver reliable HD streaming for time-shift video, personal video file sharing, IPTV and HDTV.

Aitana, the 2nd generation 200Mbps Powerline IC of DS2, includes embedded multimedia network processor and programmable API that makes the process of developing lower cost solutions to deliver secure, manageable and uninterrupted IPTV, VoIP and video streaming throughout the home much easier for service providers.

Aitana’s TDMA-based MAC enhances video-streaming, and handles video multi-streaming, and neighbour networks by reducing the congestion on the network associated with CSMA systems.

At Computex 2008, DS2 will demonstrate simultaneous transmission of multiple HDTV streams using Aitana-based powerline communications modems to connect between multiple TV screens and an X-box for streaming and transfer of high-quality video content.

During Computex, DS2 also display 100Mbps Powerline Adapted based on Montgo deliver audio IP while on the same network with Aitana-based products delivering HDTV streaming. Montgo is DS2’s lowest cost 100Mbps Powerline IC that is interoperable with Aitana, thus devices based on either can be connected on the same network and they will communicate with one another, whether rated at 100Mbp or 200Mbps.
