TEMA Honors UTStarcom

UTStarcom (News - Alert), a manufacturer and supporter of IP-based, end-to-end networking and telecommunications solutions announced that the company is recognized for its commitment and has received an award in the category of "Excellence in Telecom Services and Solutions" from the Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA) in India.

 
The Government of India identifies TEMA as the National Apex body to represent telecom technology providers as well as various public and private stakeholders in the telecommunications industry. The award was presented to UTStarcom by Thiru A. Raja, Honorable Union Minister of Communications and IT in India during the second annual TEMA National Awards.
 
Recognized as one of the leading IPTV providers in Asia, UTStarcom has been showing a sheer dedication and continued innovation in Internet Protocol TV (IPTV (News - Alert)), Broadband and Next Generation Networks (NGN) and its direct impact on India's telecom market growth. UTStarcom's RollingStream end-to-end IPTV system currently supports more than 850,000 live IPTV subscribers globally.
 
"We will continue to collaborate with the region's service providers, as well as India's governmental broadband authority, to ensure that we establish the highest quality telecommunications infrastructure to deliver the most advanced services to consumers throughout the country, said Vijay Yadav, vice president and managing director, South Asia operations."
 
TEMA National Telecom Award Committee decided to offer this award to UTStarcom judgining on their leadership in critical projects in India such as the BSNL multiplay deployment that began in 2007, the pioneering IPTV deployments with Bharti Airtel (News - Alert) and MTNL and other key broadband initiatives coinciding with the Government of India's 2007 Year of Broadband campaign.
