Operators, a new report from MRG, "IPTV (

Alert) Home Networking Strategies, 2008," reveals that effective Home Networking (HN) strategies can offer many benefits for operators.
With effective HN, it is possible for the IPTV operator to reposition itself the in the growing battle against PC and CE industries as well as improve competitiveness against Cable and Satellite and reduce operational expenses (OpEx) through the use of best-practices for installing and managing the Home Network.
The report from MRG, examines HN standards used by the top operators and suggests various strategies and architectures for interconnecting both AV (Audio-Visual) and PC devices in the home.
Jose Alvear (

Operators need a flexible approach to the physical network in the home along with strong commitment to managing the Home Network and using it as a platform for delivering a rich set of services.”
The report also reviews the results of a survey sent to the top 60 (global) IPTV Operators about methods for driving down OpEx and home installation best-practices.
The survey results indicate that installation times for single- and multiple-TV set households vary significantly across various networking technologies and across various geographical locations.
