GluTV Powered by Akamai, SpotXchange and thePlatform

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Indian online entertainment company, GluTV (www.glutv.com) has announced that its website, currently in beta, is being powered by three infrastructure providers. These providers include SpotXchange, an online video advertising network; thePlatform (News - Alert), a broadband video management and publishing company and Akamai, a company that offers rich media, dynamic transactions and enterprise applications online.

Aggregating highly desirable niche audiences in one giant global market, GluTV provides an entertainment breakthrough for 20 million people around the world who watch Indian movies and television.

“To achieve our goal of bringing high-quality Indian movies and television to the 20 million Indians living outside of India, we needed best-in-class infrastructure solutions that were scalable, flexible and reliable,” said S. G. Sangameswara, C.E.O. and co-founder of GluTV.

Akamai (News - Alert), SpotXchange and thePlatform have helped us set a new standard in Internet video delivery and create a powerful entertainment and advertising platform; we are very pleased to have them on the GluTV team.”

For any Web site to attract the viewers through videos, the quality of the videos are extremely important. The partnership with Akamai will allow GluTV to deliver crisp, clear, TV-like video that is delivered seamlessly thanks to Akamai's global distribution and delivery platform.

As GluTV plans to provide an extensive catalog of unique and compelling programming for its online audience, thePlatform’s back-end management and logistics system will be crucial for the company to publish their video to consumers.

With thousands of full-length shows available on a high-quality full screen, without pop-ups, downloads, or the risk of computer viruses, GluTV is the first Internet site to offer licensed, premium Indian programming. Available at a fraction of the price of cable or satellite, the service does not require long-term contracts. GluTV's launch is set for later this summer, but it is currently accepting a limited number of beta subscribers at www.glutv.com
