D-Link and Veoh Bring Internet Videos to Television Screens

By Anamika Singh, TMCnet Contributing Editor

D-Link’s (News - Alert) PC-on-TV (DPG-1200) solution now features VeohTV-branded content for home viewing.

D-Link PC-on-TV, part of the MediaLounge family, allows users to port various types of visual content from their PCs to their televisions, including videos, movies, photos and TV shows. The device is accessed directly from the television, with a unified interface for searching, browsing and viewing.

The product provides programming from media companies and also independent content on sites such as YouTube, Video, Veoh.com, Google (News - Alert) and MySpace. Remote controls can be used for full screen viewing of the PC content.

"PC-on-TV is truly unique because it allows users to view and access virtually all of the files and programs from the PCs on their home network, streamed wirelessly to a TV in another room," stated Daniel Kelley, senior director of marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc. "The addition of the intuitive VeohTV application enables us to offer our customers an innovative Internet video experience on their television with a tremendous amount of programming and customization to access from the comfort of their couch."

"We're pleased to be part of the D-Link PC-on-TV package and to offer viewers another easy way to experience what Veoh has to offer on their televisions," added Joshua Metzger, SVP of Corporate Development, Veoh Networks.” He also said, "By partnering with D-Link, we are broadening our ability to extend VeohTV to television sets worldwide and introduce new viewers to VeohTV's vast breadth of content and full-screen, remote-controllable viewing capabilities."

D-Link PC-on-TV is pre-loaded with VeohTV. It then launches into a channel guide. This enables viewers to browse channels and search by keywords to watch video on demand and also allows to stream directly from the host site to download videos. Before Link PC-on-TV, proprietary file formats were used to see videos, movies and photos stored on PCs.

The new product works with TVs and projectors as well, with streaming video at 640x480 resolution at 30 frames per second, and it allows browsing with a mouse-like trackball remote control.

Headquartered at California, D-Link is a provider of connectivity for enterprise business networking. The company is into designing, developing and manufacturing of networking, broadband, voice, data and video communications solutions.

Veoh Networks is an Internet television company that provides broadcast-quality video programming. Veoh Networks’s Veoh.com is a video hosting services on the Internet, and VeohTV is a free downloadable application that turns online videos into Internet television.
