Nostalgia Starts IPTV Channel for Classic TV Programs

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Nostalgia Television Network, a division of TVS LLC,has started a free Internet television channel. This beta version of the channel, called NTV Tele.Net, is separately dedicated to classic TV programs from the past 60 years of commercial television.

The TVS Television Network has produced and syndicated many news, sports and entertainment television programs to the national TV audience, including the NCAA Basketball Championship Tournament, Major Football Bowl Games, Frank Sinatra —  "The Main Event," Portraits of Power, People Watchers, and many other shows.

NTVTele.Net is a streaming video channel that programs classic TV programs and movies 24 hours daily. While all of the classic programming is of a vintage nature, TVS plans an aggressive slate of new programs that capture the historic nature of NTVTele.Net programs.

This video Internet channel will be fully supported by advertisements and will feature top classic TV shows from the past 60 years of television including Bonanza, Andy Griffith, Robin Hood, Jim Bowie, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, Dobie Gillis, My Favorite Martian, Sea Hunt, Peter Gunn, Checkmate, Beverly Hillbillies, Ozzie and Harriet, Dick Van Dyke, and many other classics.

TVS has said that under the TVS banner they are going to roll out 16 more such fulltime streaming channels this year alone. TVS began in 1961 telecasting to independent TV stations and has been a premiere occasional network for 47 years.

"We are delighted to bring back NTV, the Nostalgia Television Network," said TVS CEO Gene Greenberg. “NTV was a staple for cable systems in the 1970's and 80's, and it is well positioned to become a popular channel on free internet television. We're already producing a wide array of new programming that complements the classic shows on NTV. Fans of classic television will enjoy both the new and the classic shows that will appear on NTVTele.Net.”
