Latin American Cable TV Provider Picks OpenTV Solution for HD PVR Launch

OpenTV (News - Alert) Corp. announced that its Core2 and PVR2 middleware solutions have been chosen by Brazil's Net Servicos de Comunicacao S.A., the largest cable operator in Latin America, to support that company’s high definition (HD) the operator's personal video recorder (PVR) launch.


OpenTV, a provider of advanced digital television solutions, creates and delivers new types of viewing experience with its digital content. The company’s software enables enhanced program guides, video-on-demand, personal video recording, enhanced television, interactive and addressable advertising, and other communication applications.
 
OpenTV Core2 middleware technology and its OpenTV PVR2 extension are designed to support both high-definition and standard-definition displays and allows for enhanced and compelling viewer experiences. Net Servicos has started deploying their HD PVR set-top box which will be available throughout Brazil.

Net Servicos is an existing customer of OpenTV and is the first operator in Latin America to deploy OpenTV's combined middleware and PVR solution. It has deployed more than 1.5 million digital set-top boxes with OpenTV middleware.
