Arkados, also known as the “HomePlug Applications Company,” today announced a range of new products based on its chips and software. It made the announcement during Computex Taipei 2008, an international computer and electronics trade show.
The whole-house audio systems developed by Zinwell (News - Alert) and GigaFast are designed to seamlessly connect to each other utilizing the HomePlug Powerline communications technology by Arkados, company officials say.
Arkados solutions provide a basic platform to whole-house digital audio systems in a wireless mode, according to the company. The Direct-to-Speaker technology by Arkados is designed to ensure delivery of fully synchronized music across all the rooms, and provides the advanced features that are possible to be offered by only smart digital audio components.
Zinwell is displaying the PLC Audio Streaming Kit, comprising of the ZPL-AT (Home-PnP Audio Transmitter) and ZPL-AR (Home-PnP Audio Receiver), and the PLC PC Music Streaming Kit ZPL-PCR (News - Alert), and all of these comply with the Arkados solutions. All these devices are designed to distribute the audio output from the iPod to any location in the house, doing away with the ear buds to use iPod, according to the company. A maximum of four zones of music are created by Multiple Audio Receivers.
GigaFast is presenting its new offerings at the show, and many of its products are based on Arkados chips, officials say. Those in this category are the PE883-UD Universal MP3 Dock that connects up to three different sources of music. A PE881-TX/RX and PE881-IR by GigaFast is in-built to make both transmission and reception of networked music possible.
The PE883-VO HomePlug Video Output Node by GigaFast is also an Arkados-powered device that can be connected to a television to view IPTV
video streams.
Arkados officials say their company develops a universal platform, making the networking of home entertainment and computer devices possible. The company’s system-on-chip solutions provide connectivity and wireless access to a vast range of powerline-enabled consumer electronics and home computing products, they say, including stereos, radios, speakers, MP3 players, computers and televisions.
Arkados officials say the company has developed a multi-function programmable ArkTIC platform that enables its customers develop sophisticated and full-featured products for the market rapidly and at loc costs of development.
Zinwell develops and manufactures digital cable, satellite and terrestrial receiving equipment, LCD TV, IPTV (News - Alert) receiving equipment, VoIP
and wireless equipment and CATV/SMATV products.
