Ericsson (News - Alert) has announced it will be demonstrating its Internet Protocol Television offering (IPTV
) at NXTcomm (News - Alert) 2008.
The company believes this as an opportunity to allow operators and service providers to have a glimpse at the future of the television experience.
Established in 1876 and headquartered in Stockholm, Ericsson has been serving the industry with high level of technical expertise and the company today is serving more than 195 million subscribers.
With a prominent place in the industry on 2G and 3G
mobile technologies, the company offers a series of services including mobile and fixed network infrastructure, and broadband and multimedia solutions for operators, enterprises and developers.
IPTV (News - Alert) is taking new shape today and to look at the latest development in this technology,
Director Peter Linder and TANDBERG Television (News - Alert) President Eric Cooney will host a roundtable discussion with media and industry analysts on June 17th. The discussion will also cover various technology requirements and new business models that can make this technology a high-end experience.
“The evolving active lifestyle of people around the world places new requirements on the future of television,” said Arun Bhikshesvaran, vice president - Strategy and CTO for Ericsson in North America.
Bhikshesvaran added, “Consumers are no longer content to watch television at a set time and place. They want to experience television in news ways – with any service, using any device, anytime and anywhere.”
Ericsson’s mobile expertise and comprehensive, multilayered transport portfolio (which includes solutions for IP and IMS
, as well as for optical transport and high-bandwidth access) ensure that operators can implement advanced IPTV services.
