By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

TANDBERG, a global provider of telepresence, high-definition video conferencing and mobile video solutions, announced that its TANDBERG Video Communication Server (VCS) has received Technology Marketing Corporation's (TMC (News - Alert)) Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award.

The VCS provides call control, bandwidth management and firewall traversal for SIP and H.323 devices.

As the center of the video network, VCS connects all video endpoints, and infrastructure regardless of protocol. VCS that is integral to interoperability with Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) and Voice over IP systems, was picked by TMC for demonstrating “the vision, leadership and attention to detail” that are the hallmarks of the award.

TANDBERG also announced X.3, a new software version for the VCS. Because the release will enable clustering of up to six VCS it will bring a new paradigm of scalability and redundancy.

According to TANDBERG company sources, companies will be able to seamlessly scale video communications devices to the tens of thousands, making it an optimal solution for service providers and large enterprises. Available from July 2008, VCS version X.3 will also support familiar UC and IP Telephony concepts.

TMC President and Group Editor-in-Chief of Communications Solutions, Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) said in a statement that TANDBERG has been recognized with a 2007 Product of the Year Award for their excellence in the advancement of video communications.

According to Tehrani, TANDBERG has proven they are committed to quality and excellence in solutions that benefit the customer experience as well as ROI for the companies that use them.

“I am pleased to honor their hard work and accomplishments and look forward to more innovative solutions from them in the future,” stated Tehrani.
