Harmonic is a provider of video solutions that enable service providers to deliver the next generation of broadcast and on-demand services including high definition, video-on-demand, network personal video recording and time-shifted TV.
BGR rates excellent products with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits with 4 diamonds. According to BGR, Harmonic’s DiviCom Ion encoder earned a score of 3.5 diamonds and is considered outstanding.
In last year’s ranking, Harmonic’s DiviCom Electra 7000 high definition MPEG-4 AVC encoder received a perfect 5-diamond score, the first and only product to have ever received a top rating since the introduction of Diamond Technology Reviews in 2005.
"The high scores earned by Harmonic's HFC and digital video products this year reflect a very positive opinion from our panel of independent industry experts," said Laura Hamilton, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, Broadband Gear Report.
“Harmonic’s cable IPTV

solution is particularly notable, as it enables operators to leverage their existing DOCSIS and digital video infrastructure to deliver superior, IP-based video service at low bit-rates. In addition to Harmonic’s digital video products, the panel was also impressed with the company’s PWRLink 1310 DWDM transmitter, which provides cable operators a much needed solution to increase bandwidth efficiency using the existing cable plant.”
The MediaPrism software suite offers real-time and offline content preparation of on-demand video delivery. The PWRLink 1310 DWDM transmitter reduces the need for cable operators to lay additional fiber as it can work efficiently on the existing fiber.
