Verimatrix Showcases 3D Content Security Knowledge at IPTV World Forum

By Shireen Dee, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Verimatrix (News - Alert) is going to present ‘Keeping Control of the Content and Viewer’ at the Video over the Unmanaged Internet session panel discussion at the Internet Protocol TV (IPTV (News - Alert)) World Forum North America, Chicago, on July 23. The company, a provider of value and security services for pay Television (TV) networks, will be represented by the vice president of marketing, Steve Christian.

Christian will be presenting the viability of using the three-screen convergence technology effectively in a practical and realistic environment. This can be leveraged very efficiently by telecommunications providers. The pronged approach will cover three major function areas; firstly managing multi-network; secondly managing multi-device; and lastly, managing multi-pronged content owner requirements. The advantage for service providers is that this way they can support a multitude of various business models for the kind of content that they are distributing.

Verimatrix leveraged the latest technologies, implementing them in adding to the value and security of pay-TV networks. The technology is aimed at achieving solutions for some of the problems posed for content protection in the current scenario, and also the future challenges that they could face. The ultimate goal of the Verimatrix 3-Dimensional Content Security solution is to create a framework to generate a more competitive environment for operators, and additionally create an entirely new and better consumer experience, in the world of pay-TV.

A few of the services that Verimatrix provides are below:

Firstly there is VCAS for Mobile TV, which is a standards-based solution. The solution operates by controlling the video in a home media distribution network. It also encompasses streaming and downloaded video, in addition to the latest mobile broadcasting networks. The idea with this solution is to provide operators the capability of delivering affordable mobile services, while also precluding the need for specialist security hardware.

Secondly, there is the ViewRight personal computer (PC) Player, which is aimed at leveraging the functionality of any broadband connected PC, and turning it into an IPTV client, with all the functions and features intact.

Lastly there is the VCAS for Cable IPTV, which was developed in conjunction with GoBackTV (News - Alert). This solution is designed for operators to be able to have a rapid response to accelerating demands for HD and on-demand services, while dramatically reducing the cost of advanced set-top box (STB) deployment.
