Actiontec Introduces Two New Pair Bonded VDSL2 Routers

By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor

Two new Pair Bonded VDSL2 Routers have been introduced by Actiontec Electronics. The V2000H and Q2000 routers have been built specifically for the most demanding high-bandwidth triple play services, including HD video/IPTV (News - Alert) and Voice over IP.

Service providers, with the help of the routers will be able to quickly roll-out IPTV services, along with a robust bundle of data, entertainment and communication services.

Pair bonded and single line VDSL2 and single line ADSL2+ are supported by both IPTV routers. They also lets service providers take advantage of the extended reach and high bit rates of the latest bonded DSL technology. An "Auto Fallback to ADSL 2+/2" function that lets providers deploy the same device on older networks is also featured by the routers.

The V2000H also is equipped with a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN port for FTTH applications.

In short, carriers and broadband providers can use the same CPE device across all their deployment regions, including FTTH, FFTN, and FTTP architectures. There's no need to deploy one device today, and another tomorrow. There’s just one SKU to manage, one product for customer service to learn, and upgrading residential customers to faster speeds and new services is seamless.

"Universal flexibility is a key theme in our CPE strategy," said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics (News - Alert), in a press release. "We believe in building products that can be seamlessly used across different territories and different network topologies, today and tomorrow. Our collaboration with leading service providers confirms that this approach yields significant operational savings."

To support demanding triple play applications, including high-speed network interfaces, robust memory architecture, and state of the art bonded VDSL technology for improved bit rates and reach, both routers feature key technology innovations.

Advanced home networking is supported by the V2000H and Q2000 to facilitate the distribution of bandwidth-intensive services, such as HD video streams, throughout the home -- including multi-room DVR, online gaming, music streaming, file transfers and more. An enhanced wireless N radio and a built-in Gigabit Ethernet switch for speeds up to 1000 Mbps is featured by both routers. The V2000H also supports the latest HomePNA (News - Alert) technology for distributing IPTV and more over a home's existing coaxial cables.

With the help of the new VDSL2 routers, it becomes easy for the service providers to offer revenue-generating applications. The V2000H and Q2000, with optional support for Java Virtual Machine and Java Runtime Software, can host a number of Java applications, such as home automation and enhanced security.

To enable technical support staff to remotely troubleshoot customer problems without a home visit, the V2000H and Q2000 also support TR-069 remote management capabilities.

In related news, Actiontec Electronics’ MI424WR Wireless Broadband Router and Wireless N VDSL Modem Router have been selected for the final round in the 'New Product or Service of the Year - Telecommunications' category in the 2010 American Business Awards.
