Irdeto's Technology to Enable Access to Online Content with Google's IPTV

Irdeto, a dealer in securing and delivering premium content and digital assets, claimed that its technology has been selected to enable access to premium online content from Logitech (News - Alert) Revue with Google TV.

Logitech Revue offers, in an integrated user interface, TV programming, the Web and Android-based apps that can deliver premium content services and enable entirely new experiences, based on the Google TV platform. Logitech has drawn Irdeto’s (News - Alert) technology to deliver premium content services through apps such as Netflix Watch Instantly.     

The company stated that by Logitech selecting its Cloakware technology to safely enable apps-based premium content on the Logitech Revue companion box, Irdeto is further positioned as the ideal partner for today’s leading premium content initiatives. The company claimed to have worked closely with Logitech to ensure that sensitive assets are protected from tampering because their customers’ business models require a safe and secure environment.   

Logitech Revue is a “companion box” designed to bring Google (News - Alert) TV to existing HD television sets via a simple HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connection. The Logitech Revue is a companion to the TV and not a TV itself, which means, it works with the current TV and any HDTV. And also Google TV is an open platform, with developers creating more apps and functionality, so the TV will do more as Google TV does more. 

Logitech has designed the Revue to be controllable with a wide variety of devices. To name a few: a keyboard, a minicontroller, Harmony Remotes, and even smart phones. The wireless QWERTY keyboard consists of a touch pad and directional pad built into it. It is 122 mm x 23.89 mm x 334.6 mm (WxHxD) and weighs 289 g. It has a handful of buttons that make controlling Google TV and media in general easier. It runs on two AA batteries and has a claimed battery life of close to a year with normal use. It can be turned off manually, but goes to sleep when not in use.

We selected Irdeto because the company delivers a very flexible and reliable solution for protecting high-value content over broadband, without compromising user experience.”
