Ukraine IPTV Set to Experience Dynamic Growth

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

A new report form Pyramid Research has revealed that Ukraine is about to witness a tremendous growth in IPTV (News - Alert).

Titled Ukraine:'Sale of Mobile Operator and Spread of Multiplay Drive a Booming Market,' it is part of Pyramid Research's Europe Intelligence Report Series.

According to the report, IPTV is expected to grow by 42 percent CAGR between 2011-2016. It will increase its subscriber base to reach 104,000.

The Ukrainian Telecom market is expected to increase its service revenue in 2011 by 4.8 percent with IPTV increasing its share gradually.

The report offers a precise profile of the country's telecommunications, media and technology sectors and also provides analysis of the fixed and mobile sector. It tracks current trends in the market and monitors the introduction and spread of new technologies.

Of course, all this depends on whether NKRZ will finally grant the long awaited IPTV licenses as all projections are based on this factor.

Pyramid Research Analyst Sylwia Boguszewska noted that the availability of licenses would enable a number of fixed operators to enter the multiplay zone and offer true multiplay services.

She further added, "Pyramid expects increased M&A activity in the cable segment, with this technology dominating the pay-TV market throughout the forecast period.”

Pyramid's research reports provide comprehensive information and insight into emerging communications trends, technologies and services, enabling clients to stay ahead of changing market dynamics.
