SeaChange International, a provider of multi-screen video solutions, announced that Liberty Global (News - Alert), an international cable operator offering video, telephone, and broadband Internet services located in Europe under the brands UPC, has selected SeaChange’s Adrenalin multi-screen video back office and client publishing solutions to power Liberty Global’s Horizon next-generation TV platform.

Liberty Global is deploying the SeaChange’s Adrenalin video back office for the launch of its Horizon media and entertainment platform.  Following current field trials, the multiple system operator plans to commercially launch the Horizon at UPC in the Netherlands first, to be followed closely by launches at UPC Cablecom in Switzerland and Unitymedia (News - Alert) in Germany, company officials said.

“Horizon promises to be one of most innovative video platforms anywhere and SeaChange is very proud to have been chosen to provide its products and capabilities to help Liberty Global expand its global business yet again,” said Erwin van Dommelen, president of SeaChange Software, in a statement.

The Horizon platform is a next-generation TV platform that provides video to TV screens as well as other devices, from PCs to tablets and smartphones.  The platform enables subscribers to view and share the television experience and any content on multiple screens wirelessly throughout the home and on the go through device applications and Web browsers.

Adrenalin video back office has already been used for several Liberty Global operations worldwide. The solution is being deployed to automate Horizon’s on-demand television offering.

“We selected SeaChange software and services as a key contributor to the overall Horizon experience,” said Ryc Brownrigg, vice president Digital Technology at Liberty Global, in a statement. “The Adrenalin system helps us deliver our multi-screen video offering seamlessly to our customers.”

Launched in last October, SeaChange’s Adrenalin multi-screen video back office solution has already been deployed by seven operators worldwide, in addition to hundreds of SeaChange Axiom and eventIS back office deployments. SeaChange was also selected for a 2011 Vendor Award for ‘Best Innovation/Breakthrough Supplier’ by Liberty Global.
