Spain's Telefónica SA recently implemented JDSU's Home Performance Management (PM) solution for service assurance of its IPTV (News - Alert) service Imagenio, stated a press release.

According to the release, Spain's Telefonica SA deployed JDSU's Home Performance Management solution, a software application that works alongside existing Auto Configuration Server (ACS (News - Alert)) solutions, to proactively monitor as well as troubleshoot service issues for its Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) content and on-demand services at Imagenio.

Imagenio is an IPTV service delivering standard and high-definition programming to nearly 800,000 customers in Spain.

Briefing about the advantages obtained by deploying JDSU's (News - Alert) Home PM solution in a press release, Enrique Blanco, executive vice president of Operations and Planning at Telefonica (News - Alert), said, "JDSU's HomePM provides us with a quality solution that will allow us to improve the quality of the IPTV service we provide to our customers. JDSU's high quality test and measurement solution will also provide us with a significant reduction on our operating costs."

JDSU’s HomePM solution is a standards-based software tool, which automatically identifies as well as demarks problems between the service delivery platforms, core and access networks, and the home network.

This software application, which works alongside existing Auto Configuration Server (ACS) solutions, reduces customer service call volume and improves troubleshooting efficiency by simplifying diagnostics and identifying the issue the first time.

Officials with JDSU said that the companies Home PM centralized solution provides remote visibility into Imagenio's home networks by making use of non-intrusive software to report on customer quality of service issues and to dispatch information in near real time to technicians.

"JDSU offers a highly accurate, cost-effective software solution for monitoring broadband networks with robust services like IPTV," said David Heard, president of JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business segment, in a statement. "Our Home PM solution has helped Telefónica achieve operating expense reductions in only three months, creating a competitive advantage and delivering a return on its investment within a year."

JDSU provides diverse technologies such as high-quality communications, secure financial transactions, reliable consumer electronics, green energy, differentiated brands and a host of other solutions via three business segments: Communications Test and Measurement, Communications and Commercial Optical Products, and Advanced Optical Technologies.

In recent news as reported by TMCnet, Alcatel-Lucent partnered with Telefónica to deploy LTE (News - Alert) technology to facilitate the launching of Spain's first 4G wireless network, wherein the company is expected to deliver consumers across Spain with 4G mobile broadband services via the wireless network.
