Pixelmetrix (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of solutions for preventive monitoring for digital, cable, terrestrial and IPTV networks, announced that it showcased its DVStor² disaster recovery solution at the Content & Communications World - HD World.
According the company, the DVStor² brings an all new robust and resilient hardware platform to the DVStor. The DVStor2 is an ASI/IP self-contained, recording and playback system. In addition to the standard record and playback functions, the new delay feature supposedly makes it perfect for disaster recovery or network delay.
The solution is capable of automatically playing out previously recorded content if upstream is disrupted empowering broadcasters to be back on air quickly. The playlist and EPG search functions enable combining historical and evergreen material. DVStor² can export content as SPTS/Quicktime movie/MPG files. The new IP playback function can also handle multiple audio streams as well as embedded DVB subtitles.
The company added that DVStor2 offers one of the highest storage densities in the industry and RAID-6 and redundant power supplies further protect archived content.
Some of the notable features of the new solution are: RAID-5/6 hot swap drives accessible from front panel; dual-redundant power supplies (select models come with hot swap PSU); IP in/out and optional ASI in/out; simple user interface; local KVM and HTTP remote control capability; large through-put: up to 100 mbps TS rate simultaneous record/play; continuous record and selective playback with video thumbnail display; playback delay option from seconds to days easily configured in SW; VLC Server built in for full rate playback through a PC; and more.
Pixelmetrix added that it develops a host of IPTV (News
- Alert) and Preventive Monitoring systems that offer unique attributes and versatility, allowing operators to achieve end-to-end visibility and keep tabs on their network architecture.
In other news, Pixelmetrix recently demonstrated its latest application for the Electronic Couch Potato (ECP) – the Video Quality Index (VQI).Video Quality Index (VQI) is a video quality measurement tool that scans all channels, identifies common video impairments such as macro-blocking, tiling and freeze frame, then combines them to a single, integrated metric. Results are consolidated across all channels and remote sites – making it easy to identify when and where video quality issues strike.
