AT&T Integrates Wireless Receiver to Give U-verse TV Customers More Freedom to Watch TV

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

AT&T (News - Alert), a telecom service provider, announced that its integrated wireless receiver offers U-verse TV customers more freedom to watch TV anywhere, in any room in the home.

The U-verse Wireless Receiver is designed to assist users to connect to the TV. It plugs into a power outlet. A wireless signal strength indicator helps users find the best place for their U-verse Wireless Receiver.

The AT&T U-verse TV Wireless Receiver gives U-verse TV users more freedom to watch TV when and where they want it, including rooms without an existing U-verse outlet. The Wireless Receiver will be available from any TV provider.

According to more than 80 percent of customers, Wireless Receiver is ideal to place a TV in a room where there's not an existing TV outlet. More than half of customers would like to use a Wireless Receiver to move a TV to their porch or patio.

"For decades, the TV outlet has dictated how viewers can arrange their furniture and where they place their TV," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, in a statement.

"Now, for the first time, customers have the freedom to move the TV virtually whenever and wherever they want to, without a special appointment with a service technician. It's another innovation for U-verse TV," Christopher added.

Recently, AT&T announced the expansion of its mobile broadband network in Kentucky. Local enhancements are part of AT&T's 2011 plans to invest in the $20 billion range in its wireless and wireline networks. AT&T plans to support the build or upgrade of thousands of cell sites nationwide to increase network speed, coverage and reliability for both mobile voice and broadband services.
