Anevia (News - Alert), a company specializing in video streaming solutions and service infrastructure for live TV and video on demand, unveiled a new WebTV feature for its Flamingo range of IPTV (News
- Alert) head-end products.
As stated, the new Flamingo WebTV feature allows hotels, hospitals, and other hospitality service providers to receive and re-transmit Web-based television content including special interest and foreign language television channels not available locally. The WebTV channels are streamed across the local network as any other channel and can be integrated into existing middleware and mosaic generation platforms.
The WebTV feature is available as part of the Flamingo 3.2 software version for both existing and new Flamingo XL and Flamingo 660 owners.
Anevia recently launched Flamingo XL which is a high density rack mountable IPTV head-end that is capable of capturing live TV & radio content for streaming over IP to set-top boxes, PCs, and other devices. Flamingo XL is said to deliver hundreds of streams using only one box.
Anevia Flamingo 660 is also said to be a rack mountable IPTV head-end unit. The Flamingo 660 and Flamingo XL capture live TV & radio content from satellite, cable, digital terrestrial and analog sources before streaming it over IP networks to set-top boxes, PCs, or other IP connected devices.
WebTV is complimented by the Flamingo WebRadio feature for streaming both audio and video content from Web-based sources.
With over 1,000 deployments in 70 countries, representing millions of users and over 25,000 live channels, Anevia has been delivering video solutions to telecom operators, broadcast service providers and the hospitality market.
Anevia recently reported that PrimeTel, the largest private Cypriot telecommunications carrier operating an ADSL platform, a fiber-optic network, a Next Generation submarine cable system and a mobile phone service, has selected Anevia’s IPTV time-shifting solution to offer catch-up TV and Pause TV services to its retail customer. Anevia’s ViaDemand is a carrier-grade software solution based on its circular buffer technology for delivering VOD and time-shifting through IPTV networks.
