Celeno Communications (News - Alert), a leading provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, recently announced in a press release that its Wi-Fi Ethernet bridges have been selected by iiNet, Australia's second largest DSL broadband provider, to ensure faster delivery of its IPTV (News - Alert) services. The agreement has enabled Celeno to expand its reach in the Australian market and broaden its technology reach across a range of wireless solutions.

With Celeno-enabled wireless bridge, a user can link the set-top box to the modem over a wireless connection without network cables. Also, the set-up takes just few minutes and ensures a faster speed.

"With Celeno's field-proven Wi-Fi technology, we are able to offer our customers seamless connection between their iiNet broadband and our IPTV service," said Stephen Harley, iiNet's Chief Product Officer. "Our customers don't want to worry about the cost of new wiring, and this robust, inexpensive wireless bridge has allowed us to speed up the expansion rate of our IPTV services."

"With the iiNet implementation, Celeno's technology continues to be the most widely-adopted method for top-tier service providers to distribute wireless in-home video to their subscribers," says Gilad Rozen, CEO of Celeno. "It is clear that Celeno's video grade Wi-Fi is consistently being equated with the highest quality user experience across a large number of screens in a home."

In related news, Celeno Communications announced that its CL1820 Wi-Fi chip and OptimizAIR technology has been selected by Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert), provider of integrated telecommunications solutions, to help drive the Deutsche Speedport W 102 Bridge. Deutsche Telekom's Speedport W 102 Bridge will deliver the entire “Entertain” IPTV service package wirelessly to consumers in Germany. Entertain features 140 TV channels, 15,000 titles, a range of interactive applications, and 2,500 national, and international radio stations. By delivering Entertain via the Speedport W 102 Bridge, Deutsche Telekom will make it possible for German consumers to access the Entertain IPTV service over multiple set-top boxes (STBs). Consumers will also be able to wirelessly receive content and also wirelessly share multi-room digital video recorder (DVR) content.
