Moscow, Russia-based IPTV (News - Alert) software and hardware manufacturer NetUP announced that it is now going to offer an IPTV solution that does not require IP set-top boxes.

The company is making this possible with a TV set that integrates Android (News - Alert)-based IP STB within itself, the company explained in a press release.

The newly launched solution is perfect for hotels and residences as with this solution, the users will need headend equipment such as, NetUP IPTV Combine 4x, local area network with multicast support and Android based TV sets. For ordinary IP STB, two devices –TV and IP STB – were needed in most cases. These Android-based IP TV set makes it more cost-effective for the hotel owners and more comfortable for guests.

The Android-based TV set looks no different from any ordinary TV set, according to its maker. With a graphical interface, the TV sets allow the users to access diverse IPTV services such as Live TV with interactive features, Electronic Program Guide (EPG), VoD movies and many more.

In addition, the subscribers can take advantage of all Android features: Web surfing, social networking, gaming, YouTube (News - Alert), Skype, Google Maps and thousands of other applications on the screen of their TV.

The TV set that has already been tested supports multiple technical characteristics such as considerable Flash memory, 512MB DDR-2 RAM (News - Alert), MPEG2 audio, AAC, AC-3, MP3 audio formats and many more.

According to an earlier press release, Eyepartner has been selected by NetUP as an authorized dealer for NetUP IPTV hardware.

“We are excited to join NetUP's network of authorized dealers.
