Network Instruments (News - Alert), a company specializing in network and application performance monitoring, claims that company’s Observer performance management platform has now been renovated to offer in-depth tracking and analysis of Internet Protocol television (IPTV (News
- Alert)) video applications.
Company officials said that they have added new features to enable the sharing of Observer data and analysis between IT teams, in order to offer in-depth NFS transaction monitoring, and enhance GigaStor's security investigation capabilities.
The Observer platform helps users to recognize critical performance metrics including Media Delivery Index (MDI (News - Alert)), jitter, latency, and packet loss; alarm on specific IPTV errors, and they can also reconstruct and replay IPTV video transmissions. It also supports the monitoring of multicast and unicast IPTV video streams in the context of overall network traffic.
“As enterprise organizations continually expand the ways they interact with customers, partners, and employees, they rely on our solutions to validate and optimize their large communication application investments,” said Brad Reinboldt, senior product manager of Network Instruments. “As companies deploy IPTV, Observer will enable them to monitor IPTV streaming video, verify acceptable user experience, and confirm SLAs have been met.”
In addition, the Observer platform allows IT teams to use the new ORS Open Access feature graphs, reports, and metrics and can be embedded into third-party monitoring platforms, such as a Manager of Managers (MOM) or Security Information and Event Manager (SIEM) solutions.
According to Charles Thompson, director of product strategy for Network Instruments, by utilizing the ORS Open Access, teams can easily integrate in-depth application and infrastructure reports and metrics within their existing management solutions. And with this complete picture of performance, security or operations teams can now track and accurately resolve issues, Thompson added.
