French Telecom operator, Bouygues Telecom, has selected NDS to support the deployment of its next generation IPTV (News - Alert) platform including their new set-top box (STB), the Bbox.

Officials with NDS said that the company is providing STB integration services for the launch of the new platform, together with integration consultancy and a selection of critical software components to enable an enhanced pay-TV experience.

According to company officials, NDS’ (News - Alert) set-top box software enables advanced services for subscribers around the world. A future-proof solution, it enables the deployment of additional functionality and services throughout the lifetime of a platform.

Company officials said that the NDS set-top box software components to be deployed by Bouygues Telecom include a graphical engine to power an enhanced user experience with HD and 3D capability and an application manager engine to enable the development and management of a whole host of innovative new apps based on HTML5 and Flash.

“We are exceptionally proud of our new platform – and more so in the collaborative nature of the development process,” said Yves Caseau, executive vice president technologies, services and innovation, Bouygues Telecom, in a statement.

“We were very selective in the partners that we chose for this project, and with their extensive track record of innovation and integration expertise, NDS is the perfect choice to support us in creating a TV experience that will greatly satisfy the needs of our subscribers,” said Caseau.

Yves Padrines, vice president and general manager EMEA, NDS, said that the company is extremely pleased to be supporting Bouygues Telecom in the development of their next generation services.

“We have worked closely together to define the requirements for the platform and to provide critical software components to enable their subscribers with a quality user experience and we look forward to supporting them in future deployments,” said Padrines.
