A new report from
Parks Associates forecasts that the number of households that subscribe to TV services will exceed 1.4 billion by the year 2013.
The report titled “Television Services: The Global Outlook” also states that households with broadband in Europe and US consider “primetime anytime” VoD services as the most valuable service out of all TV 2.0 offerings.
The report predicts that “primetime anytime” services will help service providers to gain and retain customers in the global market for TV services. “Primetime anytime” services allow viewers to watch a show on-demand on their TV irrespective of its original air date.
According to Jayant Dasari, research analyst at Parks Associates (

A market research and consulting firm, Parks Associates studies home networks, digital entertainment, wireless connectivity, broadband and internet services.
During the past few years, competition among service providers has increased. Even when cable operators retain the largest share of the U.S. television service market, subscriptions to telco/IPTV (

To face this shifting market, providers have to leverage primetime anytime services, which will increase customer satisfaction and at the same time create avenues for new revenue-generating service strategies, like ad-supported VoD offerings.
The report analyzes the growth prospects for different TV services around the world, including the impact of the global recession on consumer adoption and spending. It also examines features that are most likely to give companies a competitive edge, such as efforts to combine Internet content and the TV. Global forecast for television services through 2013 is also included.
Jayant Dasari, the author of the report also adds that terrestrial television is still a major source for viewers in major Western European markets like France, Italy, Spain, and U.K. Around 44 percent of the television viewers in these markets rely on terrestrial services. Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is expected to play an important role in the TV market in Europe over the next five to ten years. The 44-page report is priced at $3,000.00.
