Major Television Broadcaster Selects ATCi's Simulsat Multibeam Broadcasting System

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

A large television station has reportedly selected Antenna Technology Communications’ Simulsat Multibeam antenna solution to outfit its broadcast headquarters.

Simulsat Multibeam is one of the company’s popular and widely used multibeam.

ATCi (News - Alert) officials said that this major television broadcaster selected Simulsat because of the antenna's ability to receive programming from up to 35 satellites simultaneously without degradation of quality across each signal.

The company officials claimed that with a 70-degree longitude satellite view arc, Simulsat can receive a variety of “C” and Ku-band satellite programming data. Essentially, one Simulsat C/Ku does the work of 35 steerable parabolic antennas and only requires the space of one and a half antennas.

“It is a testament to ATCi's continuous commitment to improving Simulsat technology that this noteable television station chose our Simulsat Multibeam antenna for the important task of streamlining their satellite reception capabilities in such a state-of-the-art broadcast facility,” Gary Hatch, CEO, ATCi, said in a statement.

The movement solidifies the company’s engineering capabilities, and, according to Hatch, the company is honored that this station now will rely on ATCi's Simulsat to provide the essential C and Ku Band downlink capabilities essential to their business.

Antenna Technology Communications Inc., known as ATCi is a provider of satellite communications systems.

ATCi says that it enhances its customers' opportunity for profit by providing custom global ground-based satellite communications systems and broadband services.

Back in September ATCi installed a second custom Simulsat 7 Multibeam antenna and associated equipment at Astro’s All Asia Broadcasting Center in Malaysia.

ASTRO ALL ASIA NETWORKS plc is Malaysia’s cross-media group with a significant presence in TV services and commercial radio.

ATCi’s Simulsat 7 will be employed to receive signals from nine different satellites. With its ability to receive information from up to 35 satellites simultaneously, the Simulsat antenna has been a key component for Astro’s wide range of programming.

This is the second Simulsat 7 for Astro, the largest Asian broadcaster who adopted its first Simulsat 7 in 2005 at its Cyber Jaya, Malaysia location.
