VBrick Earned Significant Milestones in 2009 despite Recession

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

VBrick (News - Alert) Systems, a provider of enterprise IP video solutions, announced that 2009 was a significant year for the company marked by several industry-first product launches, recognition from top analysts for technology innovation and an impressive array of new customer wins across the enterprise, government, education and healthcare sectors.

An important innovation of 2009 was the Enterprise Media System, or “VEMS,” which earned appreciation from analysts and media for delivering the only complete, integrated hardware and software system for distributing live and on-demand video and rich media presentations throughout a global enterprise.

In another major development, the company announced VEMS integration with IBM (News - Alert) Lotus Sametime, allowing seamless integration of user video with IBM’s flagship unified communications tool. With this, the company highlighted its focus on cementing video as an essential collaborative application within the enterprise, company officials said.

The year also witnessed the announcement of Rich Media Studio, which the company claims as the industry’s first video and data capture appliance that combines video and xGA/DVI capture into one video stream.

Rich Media Studio allows organizations to easily deliver live rich media presentations over IP networks and record content for on-demand viewing.  The integrated stream can be distributed to tens of thousands of viewers without having an adverse impact on the network, according to VBrick officials.

“In 2009 we demonstrated that our commitment to driving technology innovation -- and bringing to market the most advanced end-to-end IP video streaming solutions available -- paid off with industry awards and a significant number of customers added to our growing roster,” John Shaw, chief operating officer, VBrick, said in a statement.

VBrick was also recognized as the 2009 market leader for enterprise video streaming solutions by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert).

Despite the slowdown in IT spending among organizations, VBrick added over 400 new customers to its roster in 2009.  Some of the new customers include Vodafone (News - Alert), ING, Aetna, Pratt & Whitney, Nestle and Dow Chemical.  In the government market, VBrick landed contracts with the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Bureau of the Census.

In 2009, the company more than doubled its VBoss online streaming service customer roster, adding high-profile organizations, including the Environmental Protection Agency, or “EPA,” and the Kaufmann Foundation, VBrick officials said.

Among the new customers added in the healthcare sector include Shire Pharmaceuticals and Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center.  In education segment, VBrick won a number of new contracts from institutions such as University of Nevada/Las Vegas, Cleveland Public Schools and McLennan Community College.

“As we look to 2010 we’re confident that our business will continue to grow as industry influencers and customers alike continue to endorse the many business benefits unique to IP video streaming technology,” Shaw said.
