Anevia Partners with Broadcast International

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Anevia has teamed up with Broadcast International to provide improved video services for the IPTV (News - Alert) market. The partnership makes use of the interoperability of breakthrough, multi-codec video compression technologies from Broadcast International and advanced streaming technologies from Anevia (News - Alert).

As broadband connectivity spreads around the world, IPTV is beginning to reshape the industry. Experts suggest that the number of subscribers is expected to grow to more than 80 million households by 2011, which encourages the service providers to develop a comprehensive strategy to deliver compelling IP based content, services, and high definition video.

With this partnership, Anevia can provide the highest quality video content at very low bandwidth rates. With Interoperability of its technologies with CodecSys, the company continues to seek excellence and innovation in video service delivery, it stated. The company provides open, standards based software that optimizes the flow and streaming of high-quality video for various applications.

"We are extremely optimistic at the prospects of our alliance with Anevia. It has a solid foundation, built on the seamless integration of our products and the aim of providing superior video content to subscribers. We share a unique perspective on managing and optimizing video and doing it with streamlined software as opposed to outdated hardware appliances," said Rod Tiede, CEO Broadcast International (News - Alert).

Through a series of open, manageable API's, Broadcast International and Anevia have partnered to ensure seamless interoperability between CodecSys and Anevia's product lines. The CodecSys framework from Broadcast International reduces video bandwidth requirements over satellite, cable, IP, and wireless networks. It employs a breakthrough, multi-codec video compression technology based entirely within a software framework.

Recently, the company entered into a new customer license agreement with Sweden-based Zenterio for a license to multiple channels of the CodecSys software platform. The agreement calls on Zenterio to extend its software platform to include advanced transcoding and encoding from Broadcast International. Zenterio has expanded its services to include core-network video services like IPTV and VoD applications after extensive integration and success from initial product license.
