Kaltura has announced that it has been selected by
Dori Media Group (DMG), the international media company active in the field of television, with a focus on production, distribution, broadcasting and merchandising of Telenovela, to power Novebox.com.
Known as the world’s first online community dedicated specifically to Telenovela, Novebox.com also features the new Telenovela “Amanda O” product specifically for this site.
"In order to launch Novebox and 'Amanda O,' we needed a reliable video platform with interactive capabilities including uploading, remixing, and video management in addition to social network-related features like moderation, rating, multi-lingual support and user-related permissions," said Ehud Levy, CEO of Dori Media Web, in a Tuesday statement.
Working with DMG, Kaltura created custom video applications to fit their specific needs, based on the Kaltura open source framework. The company’s open source video platform for video management, creation, interaction and collaboration allows fans to share and interact in rich-media.
Fans can use the platform to watch episodes of “Amanda O” and even remix their own episodes by mashing scenes, adding media and choosing alternative endings. During the first stage of its release, "Amanda O" will be made available to viewers in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay with other countries to follow.
"It's a real honor to be working with one of the world's largest companies for telenovelas. Dori Media is proving to be a pioneer in its space with their revolutionary concept of an online, interactive show. This is the perfect example of a traditional media company leveraging the Internet to enhance user engagement," said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura chairman and CEO, in the Tuesday statement.
"Kaltura's extensive and flexible video platform is a perfect solution for any site -- large or small. Moreover, in the current economic climate our open source framework and distribution strategy are ideal for spurring innovation, maximizing penetration, and providing best of breed solutions at a fraction of the price of proprietary platforms," explained Kaltura.
Dori Media and Kaltura are working together to leverage the current benefits of open source platforms to drive users and viewers to the resulting platform. By responding to the growing demand for interactive solutions, Dori Media can align its strategy to drive adoption and increase viewership to expand the value of its brand. Its partnership with Kaltura is making that possible, leveraging the benefits of the open source platform and innovative applications to drive growth.
