Online Video Platform Expands Its Reach to Any Market, Any Customer

By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor

Brightcove recently formed Brightcove Alliance, a tie-up with 90 plus companies, to provide global leverage for any organization to utilize its Online Video Platform (OVP), for any application. This partnership synergy provides the OVP bundled with integrated technologies, services, online support, video streaming innovations, training, delivery, distribution, customer usage data, market responses, benchmarking, advertising Webs, Website builders, server programmers, media of every hue and even video dating online. The customer base is estimated at one hundred million and counting every month.

The OVP is on-demand and is used to create and digitally transmit videos on the World Wide Web. Its primary functions are video library management, video player creation on websites, high quality videos, and monitor the video performance. The launch of a platform - Brightcove 3 - in October was accompanied by open source application programming interfaces (API) releases, which allow users the flexibility to do their own stuff on top of the OVP.
Brightcove, Founded in 2004 and headquartered at Cambridge, Mass., is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) business with offices across the northern hemisphere. One of the earliest companies, in 2005, to show interest in Brightcove’s OVP was AOL. Joining together to distribute video related programming on AOL’s (News - Alert) Website. In 2009, training and certification programs will be available for partner companies. Its final aim is create a network to link all the companies globally and generate “a common platform for them to build their businesses around,” said Jeremy on the company’s blog.
The partners of the Brightcove Alliance are positive about the future. Rob Davis, leader of the interactive video practice at OgilvyInteractive, said that the Alliance will “free up interactive resources to focus on creative execution instead of software development and maintenance."
