Dilithium has unveiled a new Content Adapter iPhone (News - Alert) solution that will offer live video and VOD streaming support for the iPhone OS 3.0.
Dilithium deals in high-quality multimedia delivery over mobile and broadband networks to any device.
Officials at the company claim the new streaming solution will allow users to view video clips streamed to their iPhone and the DCA works on Wi-Fi, WiMax, 3G, or 3.5G (HSDPA) networks, allowing live and pre-recorded clips to be viewed in a wide range of video formats. In addition, it can perform on-the-fly and on-demand media format and codec adaptation.
Dilithium (News - Alert) said that with video traffic over mobile networks touching record levels, operators are looking for solutions that will adapt to this traffic increase but also minimize the costs of network expansion.
With this offering, the company is providing more preference to differentiated services so that their customers have the option to choose the level of subscription or the quality of their pay-per-view without requiring the additional processing and storage burden of maintaining multiple formats of each content asset.
In addition, the new streaming solution can gracefully reduce the bandwidth required to deliver video to devices and its patented transcoding and transrating techniques allow it to adjust and exploit the capabilities of the iPhone.
Recently, Dilithium announced that Mobily launched an advanced 3G Live TV and Video on Demand Portal powered by its ViVAS solution and released Video Optimizer to help service and content providers offer better video viewing experiences on 2.5 and 3G-enabled devices.
