As the popularity of YouTube videos increases across the globe, one company, Verismo Networks, is making videos available to users even when they aren’t in front of the computer,.
The company's new $99 VuNow PoD Streams Videos Right on the TV - no computer required.
This means users can tune into the happenings of the many members adding new videos at anytime on a big screen TV.
The VuNow PoD, a palm-sized device with an easy to use interface, is connected to the TV like a DVD player and allows users to browse, search, and select Internet content through their remote control.
Just last month, the company announced the release of the VuNow Pod in support of Americans who, according to a report from ComScore, watched over 11 billion online videos during July 2008.
"The television is a terrific medium for watching and sharing videos with friends or family," said Prakash Bhalerao, CEO of Verismo Networks.
"We're excited to add YouTube (News - Alert) to the VuNow Internet TV platform. VuNow offers the broadest selection of Internet content for the TV, and our goal is to keep expanding the entertainment and options for our customers."
The VuNow Pod is available online for consumers and, the company notes, the platform has gained popularity among OEMs, content aggregators, telco equipment companies, and Internet service providers who they say will likely deploy their own differentiated versions of VuNow based products.
According to the company's Web site, additional options, like the ability to choose from a large selection of movies and download from CinemaNow is also on the way.
