Amino Secures CDE Lightband IPTV STB Contract

Amino Communications, an IPTV (News - Alert) specialist, has secured the CDE Lightband IPTV STB contract.

As part of the contract, Amino would be a long-term provider of MPEG-4 set-top boxes (STBs) to CDE Lightband, the broadband and electricity provider for the city of Clarksville, Tenn.

CDE Lightband serves over 59,000 customers via a 960-mile fiber to the home (FTTH) network which has earned the city "broadband community" status.

Officials with Amino said the company will provide STBs to CDE which offers 200 channels of digital television, an interactive programming guide and Video-on-Demand service via its network. 

Currently, CDE Lightband has deployed nearly 10,000 Amino STBs to its customer base. 

"IPTV plays an important role in extending the range of services we provide to our customers. Amino's set-top boxes are proven performers and we look forward to working with Amino on the next stage of our deployment programme," said Christy Batts, vice president of telecommunications, CDE Lightband, in a statement.

Dan Carufel, director of sales, Amino Communications (News - Alert) said that CDE Lightband is an ambitious company, which sees IPTV as a key element in their customer offering.

"This substantial deployment cements our relationship with CDE and underlines the capabilities of our STB range to meet the current and future needs of the US IPTV community," said Carufel.

Back in March Amino Communications had announced securing a contract to deliver high definition (HD) set-top boxes to US triple play provider Mahaska Communication Group (MCG).

The Iowa-based company, which serves the city of Oskaloosa, had ordered A130, A130M and A530 STBs to deliver a range of entertainment services across their state of the art fibre-to-the-home network.

Amino partnered with middleware provider Minerva to secure the deal, which will see the replacement of existing standard definition set-top boxes with new HD models.
