IneoQuest Unveils New Cricket DVB-T Digital Television Monitoring Probe

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

IneoQuest (News - Alert) Technologies, Inc. a provider of advanced video quality and service assurance solutions announced the introduction of a new Cricket DVB-T monitoring probe.

Being a powerful and cost-effective system the probe provides continuous real-time verification of digital terrestrial television distribution. The probe is the latest addition to the comprehensive cricket portfolio. Along with the established IneoQuest ASI and IP probes it provides a DVB-T extension which offers full end-to-end monitoring of DTT networks.
The Cricket DVB-T is a remote DVB-T and MPEG monitoring and analysis tool that enables digital terrestrial operators to monitor, analyze, debug and resolve video quality issues at transmitter sites or the subscriber premise.
This new RF intelligent network probe features high-end capabilities including advanced physical layer measurements. The Cricket can be used as a stand-alone field diagnostic probe or can be linked to the IneoQuest video management system for centralized monitoring and diagnostics of an entire DTT infrastructure, said company sources.
The features of the new probe include remote monitoring of multiple MPEG transport streams and RF channel metrics besides offering modulation support for QPSK, QAM16 and QAM64. It features advanced RF metrics including Constellation diagram, power level, frequency offset, symbol rate offset, BER and MER.
MPEG measurements and analysis to the PID level with flexible alarm template configuration and error detection according to TR 101 290 is also possible with the probe. The probe also allows integration with iVMS video management system for program correlation through the entire network and offers a simple, Web-based user interface for direct operation in the field.
Stuart Newton, general manager for IneoQuest Technologies EMEA said in a release, "Cricket DVB-T was designed to help DTT providers deliver the highest possible viewer quality at the best price performance point."
"With the current and forecasted increase in digital terrestrial deployments globally, the new DVB-T Cricket coupled with the IneoQuest video management system provides a comprehensive and cost-effective way to monitor the entire DTT infrastructure. Operators now have access to the most comprehensive wide-scale, centrally-managed video monitoring capability for DTT," Newton explained further.
Company sources added that requests for demonstration of the new Cricket DVB-T will be accepted from interested customers.
IneoQuest helps service providers and broadcasters to offer viewers high program availability and quality across television, Internet and mobile devices. The company's solutions allow monitoring, analyzing and troubleshooting of video network performance.
