Digital Multimedia Technology, a market leader in digital communications technology, has introduced Xoftek Communications vTV software, the premier consumer application for voice, video and messaging over the TV and Set-Top-Box. With this, the company has raised the bar for next-generation communications.

By now, most people have at least heard of Voice over Internet Protocol or Skype (News - Alert) which lets users use a PC to send voice communications anywhere in the world for free via the Internet. DMT will be introducing Xoftek’s vTV platform in their next generation IP Hybrid STB; now the most flexible, highest quality Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) VoIP and video application for consumers available today.

According to Ki-Wung Lee, chief technology officer of DMT, “DMT will now be able to offer a Skype Plugged-In video-telephony comprehensive solution to cable operators and support their fight to keep viewers in front of the TV.”

“DMT (News - Alert) selected Xoftek for several key features that sets Xoftek vTV head and shoulders above competing VoIP applications that ties in perfectly with our long term focus of the Digital Home Network for broadcasting and telecommunications convergence,” DMT Chief Executive Officer, Hee-Kee Lee, states. He further adds, “With Xoftek vTV, DMT can offer the basics with 2-way calling, contact lists, Picture in Picture, call waiting, offline video messaging, and Skype video calls to a video phone, mobile phone, PC or TV. In addition, Xoftek vTV can record and play back calls, and users can even connect from across the Internet to check their video mail remotely.”

"Voice over IP is growing rapidly, and changing the way people view personal communication," Tre Zimmerman, chief operating officer of Xoftek, says. "We've proven Xoftek vTV to major TV and Set Top Box manufacturers, and now we're bringing it to market in a form that anybody can use and enjoy." Users can simply enjoy high quality Skype calls from the comfort of their living room, all without a PC or headset.

Through DMT’s IP Hybrid STB cable and ISP operator customers to call anywhere, any time for FREE. With Xoftek vTV, users can use their existing vTV or Skype ID, to make and receive audio/video calls to other Skype or SIP clients for free, no matter what day or time, through partnerships with leading service providers across the IP Hybrid STB’s offered by DMT to cable and ISP operators,” Ki-Wung Lee” chief technology officer DMT Co.,Ltd, said.
