Interactivation, a New York City-based media company, has launched InteractiveXML, described by company officials as “a free Web-based interactive video scripting toolkit, which allows Web developers to quickly build video applications that can interact with consumers' clicks, touch, text and voice.” The company also provides free creative, scripting and deployment support to anyone developing hyperinteractive videos, company officials added, saying that InteractiveXML has been integrated with Lumenvox's voice technology for through-the-browser voice recognition and Voxeo for telephony and IM applications.



Voice Mobility International, Inc. is a Vancouver-based developer and provider of carrier and enterprise messaging solutions. The company recently announced that BGK Corporate Strategies Inc. has been retained to assist in executing its acquisition strategy.



To help push innovation in this field, Google recently acquired Phonetic Arts, a UK-based synthetic speech startup, according to a recent company blog. The acquisition should help the search engine giant enhance its Google Translate platform as well as build text-to-speech functionality into other products, including its Android mobile operating system.



The Stony Brook University Medical Center in Stony Brook, N.Y., has chosen Amcom Software Inc.'s Mobile Connect for its pager replacement and smartphone messaging system. Amazon Software connects people to each other and to the data they need.
