Voxeo Gaining Ground with IVR Solutions

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

With plans to supply its VSS system to both Convergys and Voxeo, providers of interactive voice response or “IVR” solutions, Bharatbook.com recently included a new report on “TradeHarbor Partners with Voxeo and Convergys (News - Alert) Analyst Opinion” in its market report catalog.

Voice biometrics is a technology that verifies the identity of a caller by matching the resonance and pitch of his or her voice to a database of pre-recorded utterances. The technology powers voice authentication solutions.

Specific points covered in the research included:

--Voice biometrics is commonly perceived as a trade-off between security and caller experience.
--There is a lack of best practices and industry knowledge of use cases in which to deploy the technology.
--A biometrics deployment is multi-disciplinary and requires different departments in the enterprise to be in sync.

To allow enterprise customers to purchase the technology as an operational expense,  TradeHarbor uses technology from Nuance (News - Alert) and deploys it into a SaaS solution so it can then fined-tuned into VSS, a scalable service that can deploy without extensive integration work.

Voxeo (News - Alert) is certainly one company to keep an eye on as it recently raised $4.5 million in equity from a single investor. The Tech Journal South recently reported on this success, citing the company’s 100 percent year-over-year growth since 1999. The new funding was revealed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to Voxeo, its hosting and premise platform solutions and developer services are used by more than 45,000 customers and 100,000 developers to create and deploy any telephone application they desire.

With Voxeo, companies seeking to use IVR technology can overcome previous limitations and replace aging, proprietary IVR boxes and applications with simple voice-driven VoiceXML (News - Alert) and CCXML-powered IVR platforms, hosting services and developer solutions.

And, with newly acquired access to Motorola’s OEM VoiceXML, IMified’s messaging application development and deployment platform and Germany’s VoiceObjects (News - Alert), Voxeo is well positioned to claim more of the market than ever before possible.
